Lithigender is a neurogender defined as "a gender that feels more intense or prevalent during manic episodes and less intense or prevalent during depressive episodes but does not change otherwise. This gender is not fluid, only it’s intensity or prevalence changes. A term reserved for those with bipolar disorder. The name comes from “lithium” which is often used to treat symptoms of bipolar disorder."1

History of the term

Lithigender was coined on July 23, 2019 by anonymous via tumblr user neurogenders (aka xeno-aligned). The flag was created at the same time.2
