Aplatonic is a miscellaneous MOGAI identity defined as "not feeling platonic attraction. The term was originally created in the aromantic community, as well as by trauma survivors and neurogivergent folks to describe their experiences. Platonic attraction exists on a spectrum, just like there's a spectrum for sexual and romantic attractions. The abbreviation for aplatonic is "apl" (pronounced "apple")."1

History of the term

Aplatonic was coined before December 24, 2014 by pride-flags-for-us. The first flag was created at the same time.2 The second flag was created on September 4, 2015 by Pride-Flags on Deciantart.3

I wanna fuck my mailman,
I wanna fuck my dad
I’m aroused by everyone,
and it makes me sad.

It says very plainly in
the US Constitution
all can pursue happiness
So I declare revolution.

It’s a new millennium,
and gays have got their rights,
so can we set Aplatonic equity
squarely in our sights?
